However,since you do not even have a GPS, I suspect that your tablet also does not have a cell modem to get assisted GPS when there is no WiFi signal. If it does, that can explain your problem. I don't know if ASIAIR requires a true GPS signal when it issues a system call to obtain Latitude and Longitude. Unassisted GPS is probably good to 10 to 20 meters while assisted GPS can be good to 2 meters. This error is sent to your tablet over cell signals and corrects for the small error from the GPS signal at your tablet. The tower uses GPS to find its location, and compare with its accurately know location. Some tablets will save the last location that is given by your WiFi modem too (I suspect that is the case of your tablet). You can also ask Sky Watcher, or the dealer that you bought it from.Īssisted GPS uses the known precise location of cell towers to augment the accuracy from the satellites, and can give a rough location of your device if there is no satellite visible (from inside a house, for example). Now that you have mentioned the device that you are using, perhaps someone else who has the same device will step up and mention if ASIAIR can push latitude and longitude information to it. It is also possible your star tracker does not even support Latitude and Longitude settings. On the left of the screen (if it is like the iOS version), you should see "Phone Info."ĭo the Latitude and Longitude fields there show the correct data? If not, tap on either the Latitude or Longitude field, and ASIAIR will let you edit the data. When you restart the app, you should be able to connect to your ASIAIR hardware, but do not tap on the ENTER button yet.
One thing that you might be able to try is first kill the ASIAIR app on your tablet.

Unlike iPads, not all Android devices have GPS. Check if your Android device actually has a GPS chip in it.
The message you got seems to indicate the ASIAIR cannot obtain its location. But even if I ignore that, I still see the "Sync To Mount" button in the ASIAIR Telescope Settings window, together with my correct Latitude and Longitude (ASIAIR might have gotten it from an earlier setting that is saved in the ASIAIR microSD card). I just tried disabling Location Services on my iPad and when I tried to connect to the mount (Telescope Setup window), I get a notification from the ASIAIR app that I need to allow "Location Access". Chaz ASIAIR App says "Get the GPS location failed".
